How Does SEO Impact User Experience?
Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO, has a significant impact on getting your work in the right location where customers can see. SEO is defined as the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a website by certifying the site appears high on search result pages. Optimizing user experience ensures your customers and users stay engaged with your work.
There are many impacts SEO has when creating blog posts. For my senior public relations course, style and design, I have been tasked to create blogs including “long-tail keywords” that increase chances of search engine optimization. These allow benefits for SEO in blog writing and website design.
Benefits of SEO for Blog Writing
Search engine optimization impacts blog writing posts because it allows the creator to specify their writing with questions customers may have and create high search engine results for those questions. Professionals use this opportunity to position their blog posts around certain “long-tail keywords.” Long tail keywords are specific words or phrases that visitors are more likely to use when searching information on the internet. Writers use these keywords throughout their blog post, so it appears higher on customers’ result pages.
To understand how SEO impacts blog writing, I have provided an example. If you write a blog about local organic coffee shops, your long tail keyword could be “organic coffee shops.” You would use this keyword throughout your work to enhance your search engine results. So those users searching for organic coffee shops may come across your blog post. SEO benefits the user experience, not just about pleasing search engines. SEO is beneficial for building credibility and trust because it allows you to create an authoritative look the higher your information is on result pages.
Step-to-Step Checklist to Enhance SEO in Blogs
Personal Experience with SEO for Blog Writing
It is very crucial for students to understand the impact search engine optimization has for blog writing and website formatting. Before coming to Auburn, I completed an internship with a local design and texting clothing company. My advisor taught me the basics of how to manually type in keywords for SEO on items sold on the website. I understood how to manually do those but never understood the impact SEO has for blog writing until studying public relations at Auburn.
Recently I have been able to learn more about the importance of SEO in blog writing within my style and design class at Auburn. In a lecture my teacher posted called “Blogging and Blog Topics,” one major takeaway I learned was the four uses of blogs for marketing and public relations. These are, “1.) To easily monitor what millions of people are saying about you, the market you sell into, your organization, and company products or services. 2.) To participate in those online conversations by commenting on other people’s blogs. 3.) To work with bloggers who write about your industry, company, or products. 4.) To begin to shape those conversations by creating and writing your own blog.” These four factors are the reason why we write blogs to enhance PR and writing. Thanks to my style and design class at Auburn, I can see the impact search engine optimization has on blog posts.
